With several inches of snow expected to fall in the area Thursday morning, it's no surprise that Loudoun County Schools did not want students on the roads. Because of the forecast for a severe winter storm, Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, March 5th.

The Loudoun County Bomb Squad responded Tuesday morning to a report of a suspicious package delivered to a Sterling home, according to the county sheriff's office. A resident in the 900 block of Poplar Court called the county police at 11:50 a.m., saying the package was delivered to their home from overseas, according to a police report.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wednesday evening and Thursday, and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is reminding motorists that winter driving can be hazardous, especially with the prediction of significant snowfall. Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman is advising motorists to make sure their vehicles are equipped with a well-stocked winter driving kit.

Loudoun County police are looking for a man who brandished a firearm Tuesday at a Sterling home during an argument. The incident occurred between 3:16 and 3:21 p.m. in the 46800 block of Burning Branch Terrace, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The owner of Chantilly Crushed Stone, an active quarry located to the north and south of Route 606, east of Route 28, has returned to a skeptical Loudoun County with a revised proposal for its planned 335-acre, mixed-use redevelopment. The amended plan for Waterside calls for up to 2,595 dwelling units, upward of 2.5 million square feet of office and flex/industrial, a pair of 175-room hotels, roughly a half-million square feet of retail and 144,600 square feet of civic space.
