AAA said that between Wednesday and Sunday 46 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home for the holiday weekend and thousands of those drivers will be driving right here in Iowa. An inconvenience -- especially if you're traveling Wednesday afternoon.

The legislature doesn't convene until next January, but, the Governor says he's already laying the groundwork for a possible hike in the fuel tax. Terry Branstad says he's already spoken with the Senate Majority Leader Michael Gronstal and will speak with other leaders of both parties in both chambers about raising more money to repair or replace Iowa's roads and bridges.

Community activists plan to hold a peaceful rally Tuesday night at the Polk County Courthouse in response to the grand jury's decision to not indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown. Many of the activists have been to Ferguson to protest the handling of this case and Monday night KCCI was with them, watching as the verdict was read.

DES MOINES, Iowa- Des Moines police are investigating a possible connection between a home invasion and a shooting reported just minutes apart. Officers were called to a home on 24th St. at 1:20 AM.
