Cynde Pierson, 54, of Beacon passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, Thursday, December 18, 2014, a Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa following a brief illness. Cynthia Irene Pierson, daughter of, Herbert Earl and Mary Louise Richards, was born February 2, 1960 in Oelwein, Iowa.

A Des Moines cab driver was assaulted by two men Friday night after refusing to take a torn $20 bill, according to a police report. The Des Moines Register reports the victim picked up two men at Third Street and Court Avenue.

An Iowa family was in for the surprise of a lifetime when a mother delivered her baby in a car speeding down the interstate. Danny Thurman and his wife, Jessica Thurman, jumped into his work van at their home in Mitchellville Friday after Jessica's water broke.

The TSA confiscated a record number of guns this year at airports nationwide! KCCI's Kim St. Onge is LIVE at the Des Moines International airport to explain how many of those guns were found here... and why officials think it could be happening more often! It's one of the busiest times of the year here at the Des Moines airport...and that's why folks say it's scary that the number of guns officials are finding is at an all time high!
